On American Monster, Season Three, the episode titled,BeverlyThompson who was found dead in her home.
“Just out of Frame“ is about Douglas Thompson and the murder of his wife of 41 years,

He was convicted of murder . He was sentenced to 65 years, which at his age, may as well be a life sentence.

According to NWI.com, "But Thompson remained stoic and kept his silence, offering no statement to the court, either of remorse or explanation before being led away to a virtual life sentence." So no motive or remorse has been disclosed.
